At SLOW INK, the process is just as important as the final result.

We begin with a relaxed, no-obligation conversation where we explore:

  • the intention behind your tattoo

  • your ideas and vision for the design

  • expectations, placement and size

  • what feels right for you – not what you think it "should" be

From there, if it feels right, we book your tattoo session and begin bringing your idea to life.

Before Your Tattoo

How to prepare your skin

To give your skin the best conditions for your tattoo and make the experience as comfortable as possible, there are a few simple things you can do beforehand:

  • Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your appointment

  • Get a good night's sleep

  • Eat a proper meal before your session to keep your blood sugar stable

  • Avoid alcohol the day before

  • Keep your skin clean and lightly moisturised with a gentle, fragrance-free moisturiser

Coming to your appointment well-rested, hydrated and nourished can help your body feel more comfortable throughout the tattooing process.

During Your Tattoo

When you arrive for your appointment, we create a calm and comfortable space for you.

Before we begin, we'll go through the design and placement together once more, making sure you feel completely comfortable and confident.

Throughout the tattooing process, we work with presence and care. You are always welcome to:

  • Take breaks whenever you need them

  • Breathe, relax and settle into your body

  • Let us know if something needs to be adjusted

Our focus is for the experience to feel just as good as the final result.

After Your Tattoo

Once your tattoo is finished, we'll guide you through the aftercare to give your skin the best conditions for healing.

You'll also receive an aftercare guide, so you know exactly how to care for your tattoo during the following weeks.

Healing is part of the process – both for your skin and for the piece you now carry with you.

If you have any questions during the healing process, you're always welcome to contact us.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

1. Does it hurt?

Getting a tattoo can be uncomfortable, but most people experience the pain as manageable and temporary.

How it feels depends on the placement of the tattoo and your individual pain tolerance.

We take the process at a calm pace, and you are always welcome to take breaks whenever you need them. Many people find that once they settle into the experience and focus on their breathing, it becomes easier.

2. How long does it take for the tattoo to heal?

Most tattoos heal on the surface within 2–3 weeks, while the deeper layers of the skin can continue healing for up to 4–6 weeks.

It's important to follow the aftercare instructions to give your tattoo the best possible conditions for healing beautifully.

3. Can i go workout after getting a tattoo?

We recommend waiting a few days before doing intense exercise, especially if your tattoo is in an area where the skin stretches or moves a lot.

Sweat, friction and tight clothing can irritate freshly tattooed skin during the early healing process.

Listen to your body and give your skin time to rest and heal.

4. Can I Swim or Use a Sauna?

During the healing period, you should avoid baths, swimming in the sea or pools, and saunas for approximately 2–3 weeks.

Short showers are fine, but avoid soaking or submerging your tattoo.

This helps protect the freshly tattooed skin while it heals.

5. What If I Get Sick Before My Tattoo Session?

If you become ill before your appointment, we completely understand that this is sometimes unavoidable.

Please contact us as soon as possible so we can find a new appointment for you.
